| 140959 | 2003-05-03 05:45:00 | Fresh install of WIN XP Home When you ask the machine to shut down, it does so but gives the message screen "you may now switch off your computer" or words to that effect, instead of powering off. The PC is a P3 800 on MSI MS-6309 VIA chipset ATX motherboard. I have come accross this ages ago & remember there where some power management settings you can adjust while windows setup is loading, but can't remember how or what to do. Can anyone help here ???? |

| 140961 | 2003-05-03 06:16:00 | Okay You must be logged in with an account that has administrator privilages Start > Run > "Regedit" (without Quote Marks) Navigate through to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Click Edit > New > String Value Name the new String "PowerdownAfterShutdown" (without the quote marks), then select it and click Edit > Modify enter "1" (without the quote marks) This should fix it CyberChuck |
