| 1337192 | 2013-04-16 08:35:00 | Is it a Hardware Problem, a Software Problem or could it be a Virus Further to my recent thread, in which I highlighted the problem of certain operations causing the computer to freeze (Occurrences last anything from 5 - 20 minutes sometimes longer). Most of occurrences appear to be caused by clicking on a link in an e-mail, or on opening attachments - particularly photos or PDFs. I am grateful to Wainuitech and Speedy Gonzales for their help to date Details of PC as follows: Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3 Mobo: Asus P5Q-E/WiFi-AP(LGA775) CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00Ghz RAM Corsair DDR2 4096Mbytes Dual Channel 533Mhz Video Card Asus N Vidia EN8600GT HDD 2 x Seagate SATA 160 Gb 7500 Rpm Power Supply Corsair VX 550N I have defragged and run chkdsk on the 4 partitions an each of the Hard Drives and there doesnt appear to be any significant problems there. I have done a fill virus scan - no virus' detected - AVG, (Scrooge or Scotsman's edition) I have done full scans with Spybot and Ad-Aware - nothing detected. I have run all the processes in CCleaner.(which I do weekly anyway) I have run memtest 86 and no problems were reported. I have run tddskiller but there was nothing found for it to kill. In my previous thread I covered the error messages, but last evening I had a major occurrence: Message as follows: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Tech Info : Step: 0X000007E (OXC000005, 0XB626640, 0XBA507924, 0XBA507620) Tvuvc.sys-addressB6266480 base at B61C0000, datestamp 4e4e2ba0 An Error report was generated to Microsoft as follows: BC Code: 1000007e BCP1: C0000005 BCP2: B6266480 BCP3: BA 507924 BCP4: BA507620 05ver:5_1_2600 SP: 3_0 Product: 256_1 Reporting details short message of little consequence The following Files will be included in this error report. There is one other matter that may be significant, messages that the CPU is running hot on reboot I have just checked the CPU temp, which is rather high at 99C. My son -in law, who is in IT, but only plays with MACs, reckons it could be a Virus, and he says buy a new Hard drive and set it up again. But his normal advice to any PC query is buy yourself a MAC. Any assistance and advice that Press F! gurus can give will be highly appreciated. Ken Smith |

Uninstall the drivers, then see if there are updated drivers for it on the Logitech site |

| 1337194 | 2013-04-16 09:24:00 | Where you mentioned "Tvuvc.sys" in the crash cause, is that spelt correctly ? Sure it not Lvuvc.sys "if" its L then that's to do with Logitech software ?? My son -in law, who is in IT, but only plays with MACs, reckons it could be a Virus, Standard response from MAC only techs ;) |

Ken Smith"rather high"? I would call that extremely high!! This alone can cause all sorts of data errors and instability, take the side off and see if your cpu fan is actually working, I doubt that it is if its running these sort of temps. Get this sorted asap as extended periods of high heat can damage the cpu. |

Yes, I was going to suggest impending motherboard failure with the number of component issues, however BSOD, system freezing etc could all be corrupting the operating system. The hot CPU could well be the cause of it all... |
