1336347 2013-04-10 22:48:00 Hi Guys

Just set up a new machine and copied some data files to it.

Now all of the files in all of my folders are read only.

Had a quick look around and it seems that this is an obscure Microsoft bug since XP.

I had it once a couple of years ago and forgot what I did to fix it.

Is there a fool proof way to fix it.

It does seem that there are many work aorunds some work on some machines, and some work on others.

This is crazy.

all the files on the whole PC, just files under your profile , some other collection of files ?
are these files flagged with read only attribute, or is it a owner/permissions issue ??

just a note, googling to find fixes: 90% of the found 'fixes' wont work, 50% of the fixes are BS by those who dont have a clue
- a slight exaggeration, but hey.... :-)

For example, if you try to open the folder "Document and Settings" in Windows Explorer, you'll get "access is denied."
