1311341 2012-11-09 07:01:00 I seem to recall there was a bit of fuss with Windows 8 before it came out and I now hear that a few of you have it and don't hate it too much. Nomad (952)

1311343 2012-11-09 07:11:00 Hey mods, could you please add in a extra answer for the poll? Call it "maybe". :thanks: :D Nomad (952)
1311344 2012-11-09 07:17:00 Yup decided to give it a try. Brought it a few weeks ago. Now its gone up to near 100 at DSE. And will probably go to 199 next week, or the week after.

It's still 90 at NL. Decided to remove Win7. Then installed it. Now that I've killed metro, the lock screen, the login screen. And installed Classic shell, it looks pretty much like Win7

And yup got it because it was cheap. And it was even better when MS handed out free keys for Media centre. Hopefully, it doesn't crap out after Jan next year lol

1311345 2012-11-09 07:22:00 Got Windows 8 for free (thanks DreamSpark :D), and despite the small variety of Windows Store apps, there's some good ones :D pcuser42 (130)
1311346 2012-11-09 07:26:00 I got one better: Windows 98 prefect (6291)
1311347 2012-11-09 07:38:00 Got it -the $19.90 upgrade version with free media center; encountered quite a few problems and may go back to Win 7.

Found it to be unstable and erratic - compatibility with older hardware is bad.

However, it loads and shuts down faster than Win 7; otherwise, Win 7 is still better.

1311348 2012-11-09 07:44:00 I'm happy with windows 7 at the moment. If windows 8 becomes necessary, it'll be for me and me alone. Mum was pissed off enough getting used to a fresh install of 7, a new OS would be insane for her to get used to.

oh and edit, MSDNAA will provide it if I get it.

Your mum seems to the the polar opposite of mine, she seems to like Windows 8 (at least based on looks)...

1311350 2012-11-09 08:14:00 Win 7 is working very well and if I needed to reinstall I would loose a certain program I use a lot at the moment, not prepared to do an upgrade either so nothing will be changing here for quite a while gary67 (56)
