As I was reading the article it reeked of a fear of the reaction from the Creationist brigade (and against the Creationists as well). Now in the light of the Vatican having already considered a bullsht response to intelligent life elsewhere, it seems my suspicions were justified. No doubt intelligent life on other planets will be dealt with in the sequel to the bible, due for release shortly after the discovery of proven other worldly intelligent life. Or by an abrupt re-interpretation of numerous ambiguous chapter and verse throughout the 'original' books. Talk about 'Lost in Translation'. They've reinterpretted so much of the bible over the milennia that it really only serves as a flexible text to suit the needs of the current generations to interpret it to align with life as we now know it. The true, original meaning has long been lost and distorted. Next thing you know, Noah's ark was a space ship, and the flood was a super nova that was 'sanitizing' the home world. |
