1310918 2012-11-07 03:08:00 Yeah I ditched MSN Messenger about 2 years ago and have never looked back!
I purely use Gtalk these days (Well, combined with Hangouts), infinitely better!!

1310919 2012-11-07 03:14:00 I've never used Gtalk, does it let you do audio conference calls for free? That's something I do use skype for and would be interested in alternatives.

As for merging MSN and skype I don't see the point, they duplicate functions so why not just kill of MSN and tranfer the user accounts over.

That's pretty much what they're doing, although you can now sign into Skype using a Microsoft account and that's Messenger there.

1310922 2012-11-07 09:02:00 Let us hope Skype doesn't plummet quite as fast or far as Nokia once they start getting their things together. ;) R2x1 (4628)

Neither. For what it is, it's horribly slow, clumsy, and to be honest I just find it annoying.
I also like the flexibility you have with XMPP / Gtalk :)

1310925 2012-11-07 23:05:00 Gtalk does seem to be a good alternative. XMPP being an open protocol it can be easily supported by any software.

Pity Google video is only supported by their software though.
