| 1311518 | 2012-11-13 01:55:00 | Well there is the following which apparently appeared in Letters to the Editor of a British Newspaper. I find it damn hard to argue with. :D 'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York Sept 112001 and have continually threatened to do so since? Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in Washington , and in downtown Manhattan , and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank: I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes - is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, believe me!! you guessed it ....... I don't care!! In conclusion, Only six defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The British Soldier. 3. The Canadian Soldier. 4. The US Soldier 5. The New Zealand Soldier, and 6. The Australian Soldier One died for your soul, the other 5 for your freedom. Amen. |

Fortunately, not all Islamic people are terrorists. And we were talking about all Islam, not terrorists, I thought? |

Every little small town in NZ and even places in the sticks miles away from a the nearest shop have war memorials, plaques, memorial halls and arches. They are in memory of our soldiers killed by the Boers, Germans, Vietcong, Hungarians, Italians, North Vietnamese, Rumanian, North Korean, Bulgarians Austrians, Turks and Japanese. The soldiers who died were almost all of the Christian religion we owe them big time we dont have to apologize if people of other religions get their tits in a tangle. And we must still keep a weather eye on these nations in case they try anything again. As Saudi Arabia is a Muslim country NZ is a Christian country settled mainly of people of British descent . The colour of our country on an atlas is red for British Commonwealth thats who we are. |

Good on you Agent, one has to find a reason for the title of this post: Things can sneak up. Islam The world was very lucky to have had Winston CHURCHILL at the right time in history. Tried to read the English version of the Koran, but found it too hard to follow. Lurking. |

| 1311523 | 2012-11-13 03:42:00 | I agree with the general message in the article Cicero. It has been true for italy as well. In 1922 when the fascist marched on Roma the majority of people were discussing football over a plate of bucatini amatriciana and a glass or six of trebbiano bianco. The reality showed a very different picture just 6 months later when, as the man says in his piece, we were owned. I see something happening right now with the Lega Nord separatist, xenophobic party. Funny enough, about 10 years ago the very welcome and pacific muslim in Italy all of a sudden realised that they were offended by the omnipresent crucifix in our school classrooms and requested it to be removed. It was removed, and with it a big piece of cultural history went. I personally can't care less about the crucifix, but I would never ask for the Powhiri or a Karakia not to be performed by the "locals" here. If I don't agree I ignore it. I also see a minority within a culture in this country creating a lot of turmoil here, and most of us resent that. Say it isn't true. My 3 cents |

The case was brought by Soile Lautsi, who is not Muslim. See en.wikipedia.org She argued that displaying the crucifix was against the secular principles of education in Italy. Nothing to do with Muslims, and it's disingenuous of you to say it is. And, in fact, the decision did not stand: crucifixes can be displayed without issue, and without them being considered any form of "active" religiosity. |

| 1311527 | 2012-11-13 04:42:00 | . . . and I apologise, since there was a Muslim rights activist arguing for removal of crucifixes (I like to double check my info) as reported here: . guardian . co . uk/world/2003/oct/27/italy . sophiearie" target="_blank">www . guardian . co . uk That appears to only relate to a single school, however . So he didn't like the crucifix "A Muslim rights advocate has scored a victory over the Catholic Church and conservative Italians, winning a court ruling that will remove crucifixes from the state primary school his children attend . " And he said "the crucifix culture in schools showed that the state had "not the slightest respect" for the role of other religions . " But yet "He wanted Koran prayers displayed at his children's school " By the same logic, his prayers should not be displayed either, as that would not show respect for the Catholic and other religions . They should not be allowed their crucifix but he should be allowed his prayers? Funny double-standard there . . . ! |
