| 1311087 | 2012-11-15 09:29:00 | Geez geek, do you only come on here to troll? I am sorry if you feel that way, plod. It is just that the media appears to have had only very one sided reporting on some of the information surrounding this topic. I think the media type have too much invested in the AAPL stock to talk too much truth. >Thought you might have missed this one geek,, has been on the Internet for the past hour >www.engadget.com No, I read about that pretty much hot off the press, just didn't want to comment any further at the time, in case I am accused of trolling. ;-) There has been a lot of spectulations about why they settled, one of which is the difficulty in Apple trying to invalidate HTC's LTE patent and their recent set back in the patent wars around the wolrd. "A U.S. trade judge has hinted that Apple may struggle to invalidate patents owned by HTC, which could potentially lead to an import ban on the latest iPad and the forthcoming iPhone." news.cnet.com Another interesting point being thrown around is that Apple would like to let HTC "steal" some market share from Samsung as they are losing the battle there recently. With the invalidation of some of their patents involved in the $1B win, the upcoming appeal and jury bias motion makes that win look a bit shaky too. I think they finally realise the patent war starting to back fire on them, they certainly wouldn't be settling because they want to show some mercy on HTC, it is all very calculated for their own advantage only! I guess no one can blame them, it is Tim's job to keep the shareholders happy. He is certainly doing a great job with the new lightning connector, some people suggest they will make a billion dollar alone on new cables and connectors. www.forbes.com www.businessinsider.com Just remember, no corporation exists for "you" the consumer, they are here to make money, so I wouldn't sell my soul to a "brand" or a corporation.
