1311593 2012-11-10 20:37:00 I'm pretty sure anything declared to be worth over $400NZ can be taxed. Also you can't just declare a box of phones to be worth $50, if customs or whatever opens it and finds $1000 phones inside they'll find the real value of the phones and tax you for that v icow (15313)
1311594 2012-11-10 21:05:00 ... and then start asking questions about your false declaration ... fred_fish (15241)
1311595 2012-11-10 23:53:00 Followed your link and got.

"Sorry! Devices on Google Play is not available in your country yet.
We're working to bring devices to more countries as quickly as possible.
Please check back again soon."

He'll be ordering it via a VPN, then get it shipped to a ship forwarding company to send to NZ.

1311597 2012-11-11 00:13:00 Also get the seller to declare the shipping separately to the item, shipping doesnt get taxed. icow (15313)
1311598 2012-11-11 00:42:00 I'd love to, but I can't commit just yet. When is the last possible moment to get in on this? Cato (6936)
1311599 2012-11-11 00:45:00 Also get the seller to declare the shipping separately to the item, shipping doesnt get taxed.Er... yes it does. GST is levied on the combined cost of both the package and its shipping. See here (www.customs.govt.nz):
The goods may also be subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15%, based on the Customs value of the goods, and including the duty (if any) and postal/courier charges.

Stratex5: The threshold is $60 in taxes / duty:
Goods liable for duty and GST of NZ$60 or more cannot be released until the charges are paid... Customs does not collect duty and GST where the total revenue payable on any one importation is less than $60.

1311600 2012-11-11 02:11:00 Oh and what about warranty for the devices? sahilcc7 (15483)
1311601 2012-11-11 03:21:00 Warranty? Not much of one, we'd have to liaise directly with Google

Yeah so because it's Duty + GST combined of $60, it means roughly anything worth $350 will be charged.

Final day would be Wednesday, I'm placing order Thursday.

If you want to view the actual pages, use hidemyass.com or megaproxy.com trial to view the specs :)

1311602 2012-11-11 06:17:00 No replaceable battery or expandable storage? I think I've got the right specs.

Mobile data may be cheap overseas but I don't want to have to access my music collection with NZ's mobile data prices when I can just chuck a 32GB micro SD card in my phone.

Seems a bit weird.....
