1311416 2012-11-09 23:50:00 ok, lets see here prefect, lets see if we can add a bit of "pc" to this :)

The PM just says things that many New Zealanders and I (you, not me) say as well. Its just the media who are not in-touch with some New Zealanders and I (you, not me) who have a problem with that. These media people live in Mt Eden in villas, drink expensive coffee in cafes in Ponsonby, drive stupid European cars they do not represent the point of view some New Zealanders and I (you, not me) have of homosexuals

Close enuf :D

Hehe. I don't think that's any more PC, but it's certainly less potentially-inflammatory. Which works.

1311419 2012-11-10 00:00:00 Hey WalOne,

Reconsidering, I think you're probably right that I overstepped a little here - there have been a few thread blow-ups lately, ad this is one of those topics that tends towards it, so I've been keeping an eye on things. But I stand by my response to you. Hope your weekend is great.

1311420 2012-11-10 00:01:00 Since when has it been the function of a mod to say they agree or not with a post?

And since when has it been the function of a mod to single out the content and agree or not with it?

There's a fine line between moderating and policing. I believe you've overstepped that mark quite a few times in the past few days especially since you've been more active on-line.

And introducing a threatening tone (as in "Just saying") does nothing to maintain any open lines of communication. Rather, it closes them down.

There's also a requirement (I believe) that mods be objective and not subjective. In this response, you are starting to be too subjective. Whether or not you agree with the stated views of a Prefect or a Metla, a mod needs to be much more impartial than you demonstrate. Although there's no excuse for Metla's "get f****", there is no justification for the sometimes inflammatory policing role you seem to have adopted of late.

:angryHells bells, lighten up man. A mod is still human and can act like one. With the greatest respect WalOne, I think your comments are just a tad harsh. Chill agrees or disagrees on posts and points of view, whats wrong with Zara doing it? Seems Zara is doomed if she posts "to much" and doomed if she posts nothing (and who can blame her with that reaction). Good on the mods for showing they are still human (like John Key).

My point of view only - and I may have missed something earlier in the week that led to this.

1311421 2012-11-10 00:15:00 More seriously, Prefect, I'm really happy with you saying you agree with the PM on this, and with the editorial B.M. posted. But when you start using "us real New Zealanders" talk and "they" do not represent "our" point of view ... well, that's when I start keeping a close eye on threads. Just saying. You're tarring a lot of folk with a broad brush or three, there.
We have all got used to Prefect so we don't really need your PC boots stomping around here.

1311423 2012-11-10 00:23:00 Sheesh, sorry B.M. That guy's column was really entertaining, but it looks like I'm unintentionally causing the blow-up I was hoping to head off at the pass. C'mon guys - stay on topic for B.M., would ya? I'll make you a new thread for bitching about me if you want one. Zara Baxter (16260)
1311424 2012-11-10 00:29:00 they do not represent our point of view of homosexuals.

I thought this was a thread on climate.
Back to one of your problems then is it?I cannot understand why you have such a thing about what others may do in the privacy of their own bedrooms.

Are you afraid it might be catching or something?

1311425 2012-11-10 00:33:00 pffft.

The character of this forum has always been supplied by the character of the people that post here, The moderators have allowed and contributed to this by allowing the nut jobs to interact and that is what has made it a great place. Its why I have said in the past I'm a great fan of other peoples work, even if I find it infuriating. The forum is only as entertaining as the people that post here. (zippity included)
Now it seems that the moderator will be forcing all characters and views to align with her character and views.

Yeah, Nah. There is no such thing as Metla as defined by Zara, And a forum ceases to be a collective of views when these views are defined by one person, Instead the forum becomes about that person.

Having said that, based on past maneuvers and the bizarre situation where the forum wasn't in control of the people who actually run it, I expected this.

Good luck with it, You suck so far.
