| 1310758 | 2012-11-06 11:00:00 | Hi my baby threw his Thomas train into our 50 inch plasma screen and now it wont work. There is a crack similar to one in a windscreen or I phone. There is no liquid leaking but the picture goes all crazy when turned on. Is this worth fixing? Where would we fix it as we bought off trade me? and if not could it be sold as parts and to whom would it be sold? We live near Hamilton. Thank you:waughh: | SeattleKiwi (16940) | ||

Keep your child away from your expensive electronics, perhaps look into a sheet of polycarbonite, plexiglass or plastic sheeting to stop it happening to the next one. edit - you could try somewhere like this www.tvrepairguys.co.nz but really it'll probably cost far more than it's worth. |

| 1310763 | 2012-11-07 04:35:00 | What model TV is it? If you end up selling it I might be keen to buy it to attempt to fix it. I'd offer my services to repair but with no qualifications or insurance that the job will work then it's probably more risky than worthwhile. Parts can be bought but as 8ftmetalhead said it's the most expensive part and could cost the price of a new model. It will require replacing the LCD/Plasma/OLED (depending on screen type) display. Just talked to my usual parts supplier (mobile devices/laptops etc) who said they don't stock TV panels for samsung. The only samsung compatible panels are 17" or less. Had a look on flea bay and found one 50" panel (not sure if for your model though) for 300 USD + whatever it cost to ship to NZ and + the installation costs by whomever you chose to install it (unless ya want to try yourself) |
