141701 2003-05-06 03:21:00 At present running DirectX 8 on Windows 98 any advantage in installing DirectX 9 ? TIA. jimjam (3259)
141702 2003-05-06 04:52:00 It depends. What do you do on your computer? Do you play games?

My motto is "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but your mileage may vary.

141705 2003-05-06 07:31:00 Ha! same problem as me. I installed it though. I often play 3 player AOE II with my brothers, on 2 good computers, and a laptop with 98, and 300mhz. I havnt had a chance to find out if it is better though.

I heard that somone had unrealtournament or something, and they were getting 10fps, and whe they install Direct X 9, it went to 30fps.

I didnt get that good a result.

141706 2003-05-06 08:27:00 Err... That would be me for one... If you're gaming, 3D games - or even Zoo Tycon's style games... then yes, you should likely get something out of it!

Otherwise, if you dont do games, why bother!
