141471 2003-05-05 05:29:00 Hey,

It really depends what you are using it for. I personally recommend Lite-ON CD Writers (sometimes badged as 4KUS), as they can literally copy anything. Otherwise, Aopen and MSI are both good. Having said that you may want to check out www.cdrinfo.com - they have a large range of reviews you can look at.

Hope this helps

141472 2003-05-05 05:30:00 Depends what you want it for.

Most brands are much of a muchness other than price. Make sure it comes with at least a 12 month guarantee.

If you know what Raw DAO mode is, make sure the burner supports it, if you read this with a blank look on your face, you dont need to worry ;-)

141473 2003-05-05 06:57:00 Plextor - Lite-On - Asus

Pricewise, go for the Asus or Lite-On. Aopen aren't that good as they can't read 'everything.'

141474 2003-05-05 08:33:00 Asus are good but if u wanna update/flash them. The updates from ASUS dun work! So, dont bother getting an ASUS burner. If u plan on updating the flash for it, to keep it up to date. Spacemannz (808)
141475 2003-05-05 09:02:00 I don't know what you are on about, because I have a 48X Asus writer and have never needed to flash it.

Why would you have the need to flash a CD-Burner?? It should effectively work straight out of the box... You should only really need to flash it in maybe 20 years time or so...
Kinda like Bios - don't touch it if it ain't broken

141478 2003-06-09 09:11:00 Coz it may fix problems. Like mobo bios updates. Spacemannz (808)
141479 2003-06-09 09:12:00 And whats the point of manufacturers issuing updates if noone uses them? Spacemannz (808)
