141353 2003-05-04 23:22:00 Using Win98se and Outlook express 6

My questions are

1. How can I combine "My Connection to Paradise" and "Outlook Express 6"
so I only need to click on Outlook Express to go connect to the internet to Paradise to receive my e-mails?

At present I click on "My connection to Paradise" and when this connects onto the internet I then have to click on "Outlook Express logo" to collect my e-mails,
and this takes about 1 minute to connect and receive my e-mails.

2 Is there a quicker e-mailing system than "Outlook Express 6"

I tried Foxmail last night but this did not it would not connect to Paradise

141354 2003-05-05 00:22:00 I have outlook Express 5 here so hopefully it's the same setup in 6 - give this a try:

Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on the CONNECTIONS tab up the top.

It should say "Outlook Express shares your internet connection settings with internet explorer..." If you click the CHANGE button you'll see some options you can fiddle with.

If you have it set to 'always dial my default connection' then outlook will attempt to connect to the net as soon as you open it.

You can do the same with just about any program that uses the net.

As for quicker emailing system, I doubt it... It's got a lot to do with your ISP and how fast you are at setting things up :D

An idea ... if it's taking a while to connect to the net, have a look at your paradise connection properties, if the box 'log in to network' is ticked, untick it.. this makes things sooo much faster and makes no difference to your time on the internet as far as I can see. In fact the box is unticked by default in later versions of Windows.

I use a program called eprompter to check all my mail, it doesn't pick the mail up for me as such, it just checks it, lets me delete spam or things I don't want, and then when I open Outlook it's still downloaded to there. I set eprompter to check for emails ever 5 minutes so that I only have to open Outlook when there's something I want to see.

141355 2003-05-05 01:25:00 Hmm... I dont know about Outlook Express, But Ive used Foxmail in various versions for years and it connects OK for checking and sending email. Paradise email server does seem to have slowed down a bit over the past few months, but otherwise Foxmail works a treat. The feature I really like is the ability to retrieve email headers only, and delete directly on the server without downloading.
That way spam type nasties with html can be destroyed easily.
