| 142124 | 2003-05-07 07:57:00 | I've recently scored a Panasonic mini stereo, which sounds OK, apart from the annoying Cd track skipping it does whenever it feels like it. I've tried cleaning the lens, but am now wondering if I should change the whole pick up thing (laser?). So My Q's to anyone that knows are - should I be looking at doing something else first, that i haven't thought of, Is it possible for someone (me) to solder a new laser in (and have it work!) without any special equipement, If I could do that where would I get a laser from...? and how much are they?? any help greatly appreciated Thanks Trev |

Some will only come with complete on mechanical assembly with approprate increase in price. Unless you know someone in the tv/video trade, can't get them. If you have a Panasonic, maybe you could get it from them. usually they will tell you to take it to NEXT or TISCO. | Pheonix (280) | ||

| 142127 | 2003-05-07 21:45:00 | I'll have a go at re-aligning it thanks Iain, I had a browse yesterday and found a site that said there was a screw that could be adjusted---so I'll look for that later, failing that, what about robbing a laser from some other player (I have an old comp cd-rom, that I don't use/care about) Your right Pheonix, It doesn't sound as if buying a new one would be worth it, I'd sooner put money into a new machine, than doing the false economy thing....
