2003-05-06 12:44:00 | Maybe you are looking for Win98 Lite. Even if I used Netscape I wouldn't bother getting rid of IE. Why not? I have heaps of Hard drive space and don't mind how much it uses. Also I design web sites and want to test them using the browser of choice for most people. Please don't start a Browser war. :-)

2003-05-06 23:55:00 | as much as i dislike IE it may be a wise idea to keep it. the only reason i use it these days to to do windows updates. also i find there are a few programs that for some werid reason require IE to be installed. a few games, nortons systemworks 2003, and a few small apps.

2003-05-07 00:01:00 | Also if you remove it wrongly then windows will do a hiss fit & you will need to reload windows. | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-05-07 00:55:00 | I removed it once and my PC threw a fit so had to do a restore from my image files can cause more problems than its worth to remove I generally use Opera 7 faster for surfing etc | kiwibeat (304) | |
2003-05-07 07:58:00 | Well Chaps,I've read all you said but my hard head still wants rid of it.I only have a smallish PC,well tiny by todays standards, and I have loaded 98SE at a relative minimum and did the same with Netscape 4.8 and Irfan view, which I've had for a few years, takes care of all the Image stuff and abit more besides.I don't play games and mainly go to text only forums and download odds and ends so I see absolutely no reason to have IE sitting on my hard drive.I'll try the IE off program, track down the 98 annoyances book(I found the 95 annoyances a great learning curve) and I'll shift a few folders about until I get rid of it. Any other ideas would also be appreciated.

| 141925 | 2003-05-07 23:08:00 | Hi, Would hiding the Internet Explorer icon suit you? The tool you can use for systems 95/98 would be "System Policy Editor". I can't exactly remember where abouts the option or the name of the template you can import, as I no longer use Windows 98 and its been a long time since I have used System Policy editor.
