| 141790 | 2003-05-06 07:13:00 | Hi guys.... I am just wondering, if i take out my network cable from my Windows XP computer or turn off my switch. the taskbar (next to the clock) will automatically show a icon that my network that have not been connected.... (which is good i think) Does anyone know whether there is a similar icon that can be displayed on the Windows Me or earlier windows so that I know the network is off or on... Thank you very much |

Somewhere in the Network Properties there was a box that you could tick that would show an icon in the task bar. I think you will find that it is the same in XP only XP made it a default while in the older ones it wasn't. Sorry I can't tell you the exact place for it but try here, this is going the way you do it in XP Go to Network Connections, right click your Local Area Network Icon and go to Properties. On the main page there should be something that says Show icon in Notification area when connected. I hope this helps |

| 141796 | 2003-05-07 11:48:00 | As I said earlier, it has been a while since I used a network on 98, so I don't know the exact place to go to tick the box. I am positive that there is one some where in there though as I have done it before. that was with 98 not ME though I would be suprised if it isn't there. Sorry I can't be more help, I don't have 98 on any of these systems anymore so i can't check. :( |
