141802 2003-05-06 09:12:00 ICE was awesome!
You should've seen the screen they were playing Dead Or Alive beach Volleyball on! It was honestly huge. And Telecom had full rate (8mbps I think) Jetstream running there!! Now that was cool! :D - I've never seen PF1 load so fast, and even then, PF1 doesn't take long to load over 56k!
Also, the fact that they were selling May PCWorld for $7.95 was excellent! Thought it was a bit of a bargain until I found my subscription one lying on my desk :_|... (I had thought that my subscription had expired :p)
Also, Telecom had connected 4 machines to their Jetstreamgames network! Considering that's 8mbps (I think?? ?:|) I could easily play others around the country with that :D
TelstraClear were giving out free calling cards, and the chance to win a free phone.. And if you were clever, you got your photo taken with a PXT capable phone! (which will remain with TelstraClear for RetinaScanning purposes :p)
Ah.. There was the Mac stand... and that was ok (although my opinion is somewhat biased as I don't have a fond memory of macs)... NZLUG was there though - would've been nice if they had setup machines with different Linux Distro's and had them available for public use to "get to know" linux... (next time maybe?)
I think TelstraClear had some guy teaching people Golf and Cricket skills as well???:|

And there was tonnes more!
All this was for your $10 entry fee (exluding the PCWorld mag)

141803 2003-05-06 11:22:00 I was expecting more smaller stores (QMB where were you?) to be selling their wares...good to see Digicom there, bought some stuff off him and also am keen on their IDE RAID system for our server.

Resellers note: I (and I guess others) go to these shows wallet in hand wanting to spend money on goodies! Be there next year or else I'll just be spending more at Digicom's stand...

The rest of the show was superb, lots of training providers and about a gazillion plasma TVs for sale :)

141804 2003-05-06 11:42:00 It could have been that the small business" couldn't afford the expense of setting up a stand. Baldy (26)

to right baldy. those stands cost a small fortune. i was manning one at the homeshow one year, 3 businesses joined together for one small stand :(
