| 142045 | 2003-05-08 08:56:00 | would the battery have any thing to do with my dead vid card?? and is it possible to update bios on a GF2?? |
fergie (424) | ||
| 142046 | 2003-05-08 10:57:00 | No, the battery only keeps the time/date, and in older boards holds the BIOS info as well. Don't know about the GF2 bios upgrade, sorry. Others may be able to help you with that one. Failure of vid card can be numerous, but like all electronics, it can fail all on it's own due to poor components or static damage due to poor handling. |

| 142047 | 2003-05-08 11:18:00 | fergie, This is a friendly advice. In your short posts, there are many spelling errors here and there. It would be nice for others to read and understand your problems if you put in a little effort to improve your spelling and maybe, grammar, too. Cheers |

| 142048 | 2003-05-09 14:41:00 | 1) replace your Bios battery. 2) I have a similar problem since fitting a new Motherboard. When I switch on the fans run, the hard drive runs for about 30 seconds, & then it just sits with th fans running. Probably standby. I have to press the reset button & then it fires up OK. If I switch it off & then on again it does the same thing. I reset it when the Hard drive light gos off. |

| 142050 | 2003-05-10 21:16:00 | if you put in a little effort to improve > your spelling and maybe, grammar, too . My thinking is that fergie is of the new "Textspeak" generation, and in the very near future all the old rules of grammar and spelling will go out the window . . . so the quicker us oldies get used to it and learn it the better for us . brig |

This is something completely new to me - never heard of this before! Can't really imagine how the English language will be like if the English grammar and spellings are not followed . Certainly, it will not be called 'English' but something else . . . Should we all go back to school again to learn this 'new language'? No, definitely not for me! Cheers |
