142139 2003-05-07 09:35:00 hi there every one i know this is off topic and know im not doing anything illegal.

for uni we have (in a group) to make a poster up involving pictures, things that includes families, children, disabilities and culture.

but we have been warned big time about copyright and this is where we come unstuck.

we have been told that any pictures we want to use are copyrighted.
regardless of where they com from.

if they come out of magazines ( womans mags etc) that we need permission from the magazine.
so we cannot use them. and now we cant source any others.

does any one know of a source for free non copyrighted material that may contain these sort of pictures?

all we need them for is a poster to hand to our lecturer, it will not be on show anywhere as far as i know.

thanxs

142140 2003-05-07 09:50:00 I think that in most cases when it comes to school work copyright is exempt. Though if the teacher is checking up on it it's a bit different I spose. -=JM=- (16)
142141 2003-05-07 09:54:00 oh that makes me sound / feel real young! LOL

thank you JM

this is university level though so its gonna be a pass / fail thing if we dont get it right cos they will check,

we have to supply a reference list for them to check if needed.

142142 2003-05-07 10:28:00 Just been down the same path.

I needed some specific images for a report, but on every website I found them on they were covered by copyright.

Found some on a NZ website that were taken by the website owner, rang, swapped e-mails and he gave full permission.

The balance I took myself.

Its very important when you are including them in a document that you sell, I don't wand a lawsuit.

142143 2003-05-07 10:38:00 so any other ideas?

i dont need them for work or to sell

so am stuck and we could always take photos but then we have to get permission to take photos, print and not show them at certain places and what are we going to do with the end photos, keep, archive or give to people?

just for a lousy assignment, poster?

these things are sent to try us

142146 2003-05-07 11:43:00 Specifically what do you need images of? I have 101,000 different images in a collection that I have the license to use as I see fit as long as its not for commercial gain.

142147 2003-05-07 12:28:00 things that pertain to the health and well being of them.

by this i mean pictures of people, families, children, people / children with disabilities, the health and well being / belonging sort of things.
things that show culture diversity and such, religon
just mainly people, we have to be culturally sensitive.
the holistic veiw you might say.

something that looks to promote good vibes, health and family.
the warm fuzzy stuff. as well as some real life stuff.

142148 2003-05-07 21:31:00 Well, at first glance I have about 10000 images relating to people families and children.

Im nice, but Im not going to hunt through 10,000 images picture at a time and see if its suitable for your assignment.

If you want to give me an email address Im sure we can work something out.
