142558 2003-05-09 02:46:00 A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Has anyone any clues on fixing these errors as Xtra don't seem to be able to, it's probably an error choosing Xtra in the first place, when Voyager shut up shop.

Xtra take me through the Tools, Account setup each time and there are no faults there.

Thanks to any of you who can help.

Ps. Have posted under this topic before.

142559 2003-05-09 03:03:00 Can you browse the internet OK?

Also check under Tools - Accounts - double-click pop3.xtra.co.nz - Advanced tab - Make sure that Outgoing mail (SMTP) port is 25 and Incoming mail (POP3) port is 110.

142560 2003-05-09 03:07:00 Note down all your settings, and try re-creating a second mail account under
-Tools
-Accounts

Ive had issues before with Outlook Express 5 and 5.5 with mail accounts.

Try recreating another account with all details exactly the same and see how it goes - Its worked for me before!

Cheers

142561 2003-05-09 03:09:00 Just had another read of the errors you've posted and it looks like your Server settings may be wrong.

In the account settings again (see previous post) select the Servers tab
and make sure your settings are:

Incoming Mail (POP3): pop3.xtra.co.nz

Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.xtra.co.nz

142563 2003-05-09 03:35:00 CYaBro, thanks, this one initially caught me out, Nortons on3un-installing after 12 month free trial, changed settings to "Capitals".

The Mail Server is POP3 is caps, this is right ?.

142564 2003-05-09 03:50:00 Caps shouldnt make a difference, but set it to lower case to ease your mind if you like. Chilling_Silently (228)
142565 2003-05-09 03:53:00 Chilling_Silently, thanks for that, have made a new connection called "My Xtra Connection" and it connected first time, will close down and try a couple more times.

Thanks to both of you.

142566 2003-05-09 04:06:00 Yes that's right. I just had another thought, if you do have some antivirus software like a new version of nortons, try disabling this and see if it works. CYaBro (73)
142567 2003-05-09 05:51:00 Chilling_Silently, nope same problem.

Been told to get Telstra instead of Xtra !!.

Bloody shame.

Thanks again,
