| 142552 | 2003-05-08 22:59:00 | I Have a Dell laptop and docking station and want to run two monitors from it. I want the monitors to be set up so that it is much the same as having two windows open at the same time. i.e. You have a word document on one monitor and be able to search the internet on the other. You would be able to use one mouse which would just move from one monitor to the next by moving the pointer off the screen in the direction of the second monitor and it would then appear on this monitor. How is this done using a laptop and what hardware/software do I need (neglecting the two monitors) |

It'd be best if you did it to a TV, as some laptops cannot do LCD and Monitor.. So check out a thread started by PoWa a day back about that.. It tells you what you'll need for cabling etc. After that, simply Right-Click on your desktop and choose properties. Goto the Settings Tab, then click on Advanced. Now, depending on your Graphics card (nVidia ones are the easiest to get going.. :-)) you can play around in there with the settings! What Graphics card do you have, and do you have a TV-O (RCA) on your laptop? Hope this helps Cheers Chilling_Silence |

Just plug a monitor into the monitor port on the back, then select "properties" when you right click on the desktop area, and go into "settings". It should show 2 monitors, select the second one and tick the box "Extend my desktop onto this monitor". You can drag and drop the position of the second monitor left or right of the primary one. OK your way out. You may also need to use the hot key combination to toggle the modes on your laptop, they go LCD only - External only - Both. |
