| 142462 | 2003-05-08 11:54:00 | Hello.... I am having a login problem in windows 2000, it seems that everytime after i pass the "enter login name and password" section(With the right details), I only get the blank desktop appeared on teh screen. There is no icons and taskbar, the only response I can get is to press "Ctrl+Alt+del". so what can be the problem?? anything i can do to avoid formatting? By the way, same thing happens even I login in safe mode. |

But to get some functionality, try pressing the 'windows' key (inbetween ctrl and alt) on your keyboard. That might bring up the start button at least. |

Mr/Ms PoWa, I dont think someone has done any little trick or auto hide the task bar, because wht ever keys i press, include F1 and other keys on the keyboard i dont get any response from it, the only response is by press ctrl alt del. i can run some programs by selecting new task and browse the program you want to run. Its a strange thing and i have never seen it before. |

| 142468 | 2003-05-09 13:31:00 | Hi, Just a long shot......... Can you right click using your mouse? If so, then just check the option Active Desktop. "Select Show Desktop Items" In such cases, when I have seen or experienced this myself, was due to these factors: *Page file is too small *Explorer.exe was either modified or corrupt. With the explorer.exe I had to delete it, with only a blue screen and nothing else using taskmanager I had to use the "expand" command to reinstate it. I will be surprised, if you cannot use the Windows Key too....... |
