142386 2003-05-08 06:47:00 I have a continual problem with the same error message appearing daily with the computer shutting itself down and restarting.

the xp error reads

BCCODE : 1000008e BCP1:C0000005,BCP2:80536BA7,BCP3:F6756704,BCP4:000 00000,OsVer:5 1 2600,SP:0_0, Product:256-1

error report contents
C:/Windows\Minidump/mini050803-01.dmp
C:/DOCUME~1/default/LOCALS~1/Temp/WER1.tmp.dir00/sysdata.xml

Would anyone have any idea what the problem maybe and how to fix it.

I have fdisked my hard drive and reformatted it as well as reinstalling the software.

The second problem is that when it shuts down it boots back up and says no operating system installed, on rebooting again it boots to desktop as it should.

Could this possibly be a hard drive problem???

142387 2003-05-08 06:58:00 Did I read write: You have reformatted and Reinstalled Windows XP? It is be a hardware clash OR ah hard drive problem. Do a scan disk to make sure. But if you turn up nothin, then there is somthing seriously wrong with your computer because a reformat fixes everything ^_^ (person expericances).

142388 2003-05-08 07:31:00 It could be a combination of both.
The error messages definitely?? relate to software, I have scandisked the hard drive.

One thing I want to know it if its a 60gb drive and the hardware manager reads the volume as about 57.something why does it say that the volume is 55gb and 72% free.Would the various readings indicate a hard drive problem.

Al;so what do the error messages relare to as above.

142389 2003-05-08 09:49:00 You may have a 60GB HDD, but the computer doesn't see all of it.... sorta.
It will tell you how much you can use, has been used, but there is a portion of disk which is being used for the MBR (master boot record).
