142310 2003-05-08 03:39:00 I've made my first vcd .!! I simply used nti cd maker and it automatically copies the video into the correct format than copies it across. However When reading the cd the vcd players plays distorted picture.Choppy pictures.Music hoppy as well. But when playing the video using the computer it runs fine .y computer is 200mhz with 64 ram.!
I know and it has always been known my computer is slow and i know slow computers can affect the way video is copied onto a cd.But how come the computer can read it but not the vcd player. Is it a fast and slow computer thing or something else i haven't done?
The computer reads the cd r fine!!

142311 2003-05-08 03:50:00 exspecially with a slow pc i would make the VCD file first then burn it to disk. you can check the quality of the vcd before comitting it to cd.

also a 200mhz pc is going to take AGES to convert a movie thats encoded with divx/xvid etc, which may explain why your cd turned out like crap.

142312 2003-05-08 03:53:00 Lol it was slow process alright. It took about 40 mins.hmm Im a patient person i don't mind.I like your idea. The video i use is already mpeg but nero says its gonna put it into vcd format.hmm When i use a program called err virtual gear to convert mpeg to dat and pin point it to that file it says invalid packet file size.
At properties in windows explorer it says the file is .mpg.!!If it was a mpeg 2 or 3.would it say .mpg2 or .mpg3?

142313 2003-05-11 01:03:00 Since my computer is slow encoding to vcd format is slow. And while playing using the vcd player which uses mpeg and dat to play .Pictures becomes choppy stuck on the first frame follow by sound distortion etc.
I was wondering I if i encode the format then copy it across would it be the same as nero encoding it then copying it?

142314 2003-05-12 06:23:00 Mpeg comes in different compression settings and not all mpeg files can be burned to a VCD. VCDs have strict specifications for it to be able to play on regular DVD/VCD players. However, some DVD players, like the Pioneer DVD players, can play VCDs with a compression setting different from the specifications.

To know more about VCDs, visit www.vcdhelp.com.

There is a freeware that can create VCDs from MPEG files. It is called VCDEasy (www.vcdeasy.org). There are a lot of good things I can say about this program. It will do mpeg analysis to determine if the file meets the specifications. It can output to a CDR or to a VCD image. Plus more! This is a very excellent program. I highly recommend it.
