2003-05-07 12:34:00 | I recently installed a new graphics card and when I turned on my computer i herd 1 long beep and 3 short beeps and saw nothing. What does that mean and how can I get my computer to work?!? | minchjp (3682) | |
2003-05-07 12:43:00 | One long and 3 short can mean an error in the display adaptor (graphics card) but the code varies by BIOS. Since it happened when you fitted the card its probably true though. Swap out the card for the original and try again. If you had on-board graphics, have you disabled them? Is the card you are trying to use compatable with your system? If you post more details of the system, the card etc you could get some more meaningful help.

2003-05-07 12:54:00 | The card is a nVidia 256. Sorry, I made a mistake, I was just pulling the card and putting it back it, I did this because a friend told me that the reason I had streaking lines across the screen was because the card wasn't in correct, so I did and walla! I am really grateful for your help. | minchjp (3682) | |
2003-05-08 13:02:00 | I fixed it by puting it in properly!!! | minchjp (3682) | |
2003-05-08 13:21:00 | AGP Cards especially can be very picky about being set in correctly into the slot. Sometimes it just takes a second try to take it out and re-insert it :-)
