142568 2003-05-09 06:40:00 Les, I have been having exactly the same problem with my (non-Xtra) email accounts over the last two days. It seems to come and go and at first I thought it was my computer. I thought perhaps a program I had deleted had taken some settings with it because after a system restore it was fine but then it did the same again this morning for a little while, and again this afternoon.

Neither Outlook Express nor Eudora can get the emails and I cannot access the accounts via webmail. ICQ and MSN are also affected but not my Hotmail nor internet browsing.

It is quite a relief to know that someone else is having problems because I can now stop doing some horrible things to this poor Beast and wait for it to be fixed. :D

142569 2003-05-09 08:07:00 You had better not get too relaxed Susan as the problem will not be with your ISP if you are having problems with POP3 mail as well as ICQ and MSN

Better start looking at a possible problem with your firewall.

142570 2003-05-10 07:21:00 Whoa Jim, you were talking a lot of sense there. It seems that it was a combination of my firewall and my ISP changing the email ports, or something like that. Everything appears to be back to normal now (touchwood) and I am a little more wiser from the experience.

I wonder how Les is getting on now? Whether his has come right?

142571 2003-05-10 07:28:00 Have the words Zone Alarm ever passed across your browser...?

If you've got it, or any other firewalling software installed, check the settings, lower them, disable it, or even better, clos it and remove the program completely...

Chances are if you're posting here you are the kind of person that would have a firewall installed and that is what is most likely to be causing this problem.

142572 2003-05-13 22:18:00 Hi Susan, it could be Zone Alarm, but have had it on PC for a long time without any problems.

Zone Alarm pops up a lot more now, telling me it's blocked an intrusion.

Tried to Un-install it but it doesn't like that and it blocks all access to the internet, so have to bring it back from D:.

Kerio seems to be a better firewall, but how do get rid of Zone Alarm completely, without having to go into the Key side of things.

Zone Alarm is popping up continuously while typing this post, bloody annoying as it stops the keyboard.

Thanks for any advice.

142573 2003-05-13 22:26:00 Jim B I think Zone Labs wants one to buy their Professional Version !!.

It pops up far too often, perhaps we should take a list of the intruders' numbers to see who is regularly trying to break in.

Is Kerio any better ? and how does one get rid of Zone Alarm completely, without resorting to the registry keys.

Thanks.

142574 2003-05-13 22:29:00 Try jv16 power tools and get rid of it via the registry,at least that is what I would try. Thomas (1820)
142575 2003-05-14 00:29:00 To uninstall Zonealarm follow the instructions here (www.zonelabs.com)

The instructions are different for each operating system so select the correct OS

142576 2009-02-04 23:11:00 All of a sudden I had the same problem, after going into the account settings and everything was as it should be ... it was as easy a manually deleting everything in the inbox and outbox, then everything worked fine again, and I don't know why. Hope it works for anyone else. paulyvw (3756)
