You wouldn't believe how frustrate :)

Haven't done all the updates yet, but a lot of them. CDs are clean (all four of them) and so are the 3 drives - I just can't read anything on these disks - I can see the files there, but they all "appear" to be empty.

143040 2003-05-12 09:30:00 More on this: :)

It is so weird - Every file on both CDs appear to be empty. File size is listed correctly, but opening them (in notepad) reveals nothing... blank ?:| I opened a gif or jpg or other kind of image on the CD and there was nothing there. Yet the same CD installs normally on my friend's computer. I just don't understand it! :|

Please somebody help me! I've had no luck on the EA forums - I found someone had a similar problem but with a different game... however nobody had replied. And nobody has replied to my post either.

143041 2003-05-12 09:32:00 Hmm...
This may be a stupid idea, but have you tried sharing a CD Drive on another computer with your current machine via a network, and then running install from the shared CDROM?

143042 2003-05-12 09:41:00 I thought about that, although I wonder if that would work as it seems to be my computer that's not recognising the files (tried it in three drives). But then again it might work - now I just need to get hold of another machine that's working LOL

Nope that's out :) This is a cleanly reformatted machine (reformatted right before I tried installing) running NAV2003 fully updated.

143045 2003-05-12 12:11:00 Perhaps it is caused by InstallShield, -try deleting the isunst.exe file from your Windows folder if you have one there.

Perhaps it is a problem with the copy protection on the CD eg safedisc etc?

143046 2003-05-12 19:43:00 is it a legal tegal version of the game? or is it a copy? tango (2697)
143047 2003-05-12 19:47:00 in fact whatever it is, try copying it. then take it to your friends computer and see if the files are empty etc....

also is there any kind of driver interface between windows and cd drives? might need a look at.

also boot into safe mode and try.

I've tried with both the original CDs and a backup copy of the CDs and both have the same problem, and both work fine on my friend's computer.
