| 142749 | 2003-05-10 05:27:00 | Okay.. just re-read the whole thing... :8} When you re-boot, it may come up with a few different errors when it tries to switch to X, that's okay.. there's a couple of options.. selecting them on the left or right, Im not too sure which each does, but there's a total of 4 different combinations (Left then left.. Left then right.. right then.. you get the picture) so one will reset the X settings to Defaults. From there you'll wanna edit the XF86Config file in /etc/X11/ You may be able to hit Ctrl + Alt + F2 to switch to a 'virtual console' is what they're called in the RedHat Getting Started Guide (Going from memory.. something like that.. and that's for 7.3, but still!). http://www.linmodems.org has all the information on WinModem's you could need (Ironic name for the site isnt it :p). You need to realise that being WinModems, they have dependancies on Windows, but you CAN get them to work in Linux.. Set your mind to it and you'll be fine! In the mean time, I hope you're learning all the Linux commands for the CLI.. I'll chat to ya later if you get stuck. It is similar to MS-DOS for the part of it... just different.. ;-) Hope this helps Chilling_Silence |
