| 143158 | 2003-05-11 08:58:00 | I arranged for Jetstart to be connected last thursday, the technician phoned to say it was connected about 12-30, when I arrived home I found no DSL light on my router, after checking my wiring I phoned the help desk to report I was having trouble, after 4 hrs on the phone to all of the ADSL technicians who would talk to me who promised faithfully I was connected. I was told it probably was my router or my wiring in the house and I would have to report a failed home install and book a tech to come and sort it and if he did any work in my house I would be up for at least $85. After some more fault finding and still no luck I booked a tech and started the 5 day wait for him. Well out of the blue the tech who carried out the connection at the exchange phoned to tell me my ADSL connection would never work as I was on a ( 0 1 line ) and they had to remove a filter at the exchange to allow the ADSL line to work, is this possible, is there such a thing as a ( 0 1 line ) or did they just stuff it up and need more time to sort it out, I am now in my second wait for a tech period another 4 days and sick of the whole thing, I would like to send Telecom a bill at $85 per hr for the 8-10 hrs I waisted trying to sort a problem that wasn't mine. any info appreciated, john r |

I share your view however, that they should have known about the 0+1 line, as its not something you would be aware of. It is their Network after all. I would send them a bill. I have had similar issues, but with a major bank, where I had to spend considerable time to prove that they were wrong. I requested a billing address to charge them for 2 hours work, and they reacted sharply with "you cannot do that". When I pointed out that they would have charged for the work if the situation was reversed, I was paid. They created a credit for the amount on my credit card account, which avoided difficult questions I imagine, but it did work. You could expect Telecom to credit you with at least 1 months JS charges? |

| 143161 | 2003-05-11 09:19:00 | It is true. My mate is shifting into a new house shortly and while he is within range of the exchange Jetstart will not work because there are some filters on the line to get it to work properly with normal phones. These filters kill the Jetstart frequecies. I would query them because they should have known this right from the start and should not have even tried to install it. |

| 143164 | 2003-05-12 02:52:00 | > Just for my information, what is this '0 + 1' line? Its a digital solution to split one line into two lines. Used by Telecom when they run out of circuits in the street. On dial-up, its characterised by a 28 kb/s limit to modem connect speeds. ADSL doesnt go through it, so they need to put some other poor sucker on the 0+1 to allow JS to be accessed in this case. |
