143572 2003-05-13 00:22:00 A little problem I have run into:

I have a PC with a faulty HDD (has bad sectors or something as Windows XP won't load anymore and can't ghost data to another HDD).
So I put a replacement HDD into the PC and reinstalled Windows XP and set it up as it was before. i.e. same user name etc
Then I plugged in the faulty HDD and booted up and I can read the data except I can't get into my user folder under Documents & Settings.
It says that it is not accessible - Access denied.

I am logging in as an administrator so how do I get access to my old data??!!

Cheers

I've fixed the problem.

With Windows XP Home you have to boot into 'Safe Mode' to get the Security tab when you click on the Properties of a folder/file. Once in there you can take ownership of the folder/file. Problem fixed!
