| 143534 | 2003-05-12 14:02:00 | Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell me if your able to purchase outright a cable modem to use on the TelstraClear broadband network . I know you didn't use to be able to, but a friend of mine said that the policy had changed and that you now you can as long as you use one of the approved modems . I decided to post hear as I didn't fancy the 40min wait on their customer Service line . Any help appreated . |

I assume the easyest way for them to make sure nothing dodgy effects the network is to make sure all the modems and TV thingys are thier own. .Clueless |

| 143536 | 2003-05-13 12:13:00 | I spoke to a sales person today who was 90% certain that the policy had changed in the last month . She suggested that I call 0800 paradise and speak to their tech people to confirm this . I sat on hold for 15mins tonight before giving up, will try tomorrow and will post the results . PS sorry for the bad english in my last post was half asleep when I was writing it . ;) |

Their web site still states that you need to rent a modem although this is often way out of date IME. Good luck. Murray P |
