143528 2003-05-12 11:41:00 Strange little problem here.

XP Professional with Office XP.

When I try to insert Jpeg, Bitmap, Tif files into a word document, it seems to try to convert them a text or word format. i.e those annoying little characters that look nothing like a photo/picture.

This only happens in word. I can insert the same pics into excel or publisher with no problems.

Any one know?

( I know quite alot about some things and absolutely nothing about others - maybe another 10 years in this game and I will know everything. Wouldn't that be lovely !)

143529 2003-05-12 12:06:00 I might have the answer,,,,,,found an article re: whenever detect and repair is run all graphics file associations for word 2000 can get mucked up. Apparently the only way to fix it is to change the associations for each type of graphics file thru explorer.

I can tell by the amount of interest in this post that your all dying to know if it works.....but you'll have to wait till I get back to work tomorrow.

Sort of feel like I'm talking to myself at the moment.

We can't have you talking to yourself, now can we? See if this fixes your problem. Open Word. Click on Tools, Options, and then the View tab. Under 'Show' make sure there is no tick next to Picture Placeholders.
