| 143450 | 2003-05-12 06:02:00 | Running Windows 98 Se, all of a sudden when I start up my machine it automatically wants to connect to the internet presumably through internet explorer or outlook Express. The these programmes don't appear just the connect box. Can I stop this? How? Thanks in advance-bum fluff | Bumfluff (3523) | ||
| 143451 | 2003-05-12 06:07:00 | Sounds like you either have a dialler on your system(porn sites normally are respicible for this) or a program such as zone alarm is trying to get an update. start>run>type in msconfig......hit the go button. Once msconfig is running disable......gees,you can just about disable everything(bar your anti-virus for obvious safty reasons) Then download and install ad-aware6 and spybot. These will clean up your puter nicely. Also look thru your add/remove proams list for anything that looks suspect. If its a legit program trying to access the web turn off the auto-matic/check for updates option. |

| 143453 | 2003-05-13 02:31:00 | Thanks for the advice, I don't think it's a porn site as it doesn't open on to anything just connects me to the net. However I did run ad aware and it picked up something called a data mine. I don't know what this is but I didn't like the look of it and erased it immediately.Still got the old problem though. |
