143778 2003-05-13 09:37:00 Hi,

I've installed Linux / XP, and using GRUB as the boot loader. I've managed to get it to make Windows XP the default selection but it doesn't automatically select it and move on.

Can I set a default time eg, 4 seconds?
I like to turn the machine on, and then go and make my self coffee etc and be redy to log in...

eg timeout=4

The file is located at /etc/grub.conf

Pick your favourite editor for it (I use Vi from within an XTerm) and you're peachy.

Its honestly real simple, there's a value called Timeout and Default.

The first option for Default is called 0 and the second is 1, just to avoid confusion...

As for TimeOut, its all in seconds, so set it to whatever tickles your fancy!

Hope this helps

Cheers
