144077 2003-05-14 10:39:00 You most likely have a nasty spyware infection.

If you visit http://www.lavasoft.de
Download AdAware, and run it. It may fix the problem.

Also type Stoolbar.dll into http://www.google.co.nz

There are several hits there that have more detailed fixes

144078 2003-05-17 05:07:00 Hi godfather
i have run adware6 and spybot but no luck. i was told by "techguy" that spybot has not got round to sorting out spool.dll yet.
i tried to d/l hijack this as reccomended by tech guy but the comp. will not d/l it. also i cannot open any links in my email. i looked at google...spoolbar.dll, so can see that other people know of it, also still cannot access my bank account. tech guy says i have a d/l problem which needs to be sorted first so i can d/l (hijack this) but i do not know what to do next. any help would be very appreciated.
cheers gra

I have d/l the manual removal instructions that came from the address you gave me (doxdesk). It looks very good. It starts by going into DOS but when I type the regsvr32 /u Program Files..... etc. etc I get a message "Load Library(\Programs) failed. Get last error returns 0x0000o485". Because DOS is a big mystery to me I think I might be doing some basic mistake.

144082 2003-05-19 10:33:00 Do a search for stoolbar.dll Copy down the location of it. Then go into DOS box and type "cd system" (without the " ") You should see c:\windows\system Then type in "regsvr32 /u xxxxxxxxxxx" (without the " ") Where xxxxxxxx is the location of the stoolbar.dll ( for example c:\windows\progra~1\search~1\stoolbar.dll ) As you are not allowed more than 8 figures in DOS, it works out that the first 6 letters are as per the name and ~1 makes up for the rest, eg program files becomes progra~1 Pheonix (280)
144083 2003-05-19 10:35:00 Please note that you use cd system for win95/98/Me , but cd system32 for Win2K/XP. Pheonix (280)
144084 2003-05-22 09:59:00 Hi Pheonix
After trying everything (which failed), I deleted IE6, THE COMP THEN RESORTED BACK TO THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF ie. Now all is well.
Thankyou for your efforts.
Cheers GRAHAM
