| 143986 | 2003-05-14 05:21:00 | In windows XP outlook express when I click on the mail advice in the top panel the mail automatically opens up in the lower panel and sometimes when I get a photograph sent to me this opens up too. I have heard that attachments can contain nasties ( virus's etc ) so how can I stop the attachments being automatically opened ? When you get the message down the bottom left hand corner that your computer has connected, authorising and receiving mail, is this material DOWNLOADED or is it held in some sort of limbo giving you the option of accepting it or not accepting it. Remove tick from show preview pane. Click Apply and the OK. When your emails just downloading, they are being sent from your ISP server. If you want to read your messages on your PC (rather than web based mail) you have to download them. If you click Cancel, you won't get your email delivered. You can select not to check for new messages immediately after opening up outlook express if you wish - that way to can check for messages manually. Jen |

It is also good for bouncing spam before it gets to your PC. Mailwasher (www.mailwasher.net) Jen |
