143962 2003-05-14 01:58:00 In Net Guide this month is a paragraph on how to change wall paper--Fine! but when I try to install a scanned photo in JPEG it will only show if and when I go to "active desktop"-
then when I try to go into my bank account this "active window " cannot find ( bank website ) - go back to ordinary windows( non Active) I can access my bank but my wallpaper does not have the newly installed one.
I think I can change the file to JPF (?) but how-- or conversely how do I install a scanned photo anyway

What OS do you have???

If you have win 95/98/98SE you have to save the image as a *.bmp & then you have to move it to the windows folder for it to show up. Or

Did you do these steps?

1. Go to your desktop right click and choose properties.
2. Then you should see a tab called background
3. Click browses and chooses the file you want as a background

you do not need to install a scanned photo.
You just need to save it has a *.jpg

I hope this helps.

143965 2003-05-14 04:42:00 Hi Stu140103,
Perhaps a decimal place/point would save such a long number to insert- sorry, joke.
I have win 98Se and I have already got the scanned,JPEG in place, but to change that I seem to just chace my tail- can you stand on that tail?
Facetious cracks aside - I see the file in "prperties but now I have to change that to JPG - how?
At least; thanks anyway - my sense of humour is getting the better of me

Ok, let me get this correct: the file exe is *.jpeg & you can see it in properties, correct????
stu140103 (137)
143967 2003-05-14 04:58:00 Yes that is correct and I can now see it in "my computer>wallpaper- it shows(name 001) and it shows in the list beneath but I still get asked "do I want to view this in "active desktop" and I sure do not

What happens when you say "No"????

Sorry about this if this seems a silly question but what do you mean by:
> I can now see it in "my computer > wallpaper- it shows(name 001) and it shows in the list beneath.

Does your background tab looks soothing like this:

stuartw.orcon.net.nz

also where is the image you want as your background saved???
stu140103 (137)
143969 2003-05-14 05:17:00 That is the catch - if I say "no" I just revert to the original wallpaper I had - definitely there is no e mail address like yours showing - do you want me to send direct to you at that site or will that affect other users of this question?
The image came in at my request from my son who scanned the photo and e mailed it to me - besides sending the scanned photo to other members of the family - with no problems, and saving this to "my Photos" etc -I still have to change to *.BMP to be able to view it on the wallpaper, without going to "active etc"
