| 144146 | 2003-05-14 12:27:00 | When my computer boots ther CMOS states that the HDD is S.M.A.R.T. but this is disabled. Can someone enlighte me in this SMART and how to Enable it, also is it of any advantage. Thanks |

| 144147 | 2003-05-14 12:35:00 | SMART enabling is of little use unless you are running software that utilises the reporting of all the HDD variances. It enables monitoring of HDD parameters that can warn of impending drive failure. Or not. It also genrates a host of warnings that would make you paranoid, so unless you understand the variations that can occur in the normal drive operating range, I would suggest that you don't install the monitoring software and leave SMART disabled. Its enabled under the BIOS settings |
