144475 2003-05-19 23:16:00 I have to agree with almost all of the comments on here both good and bad. I thought it was a bit "cheesy", and the CG was very obvious even though it was touted as being very realistic, and there was supposed to be some fantastic effect that blew the effects from the original out of the water. If there was, I missed it.

As to the party/love scene - the saliva string was a bit of overkill in a close up, and as said above, I found the entire scene pointless - it did not help develop the plot 1 iota. However, the music in this scene will definitely make the soundtrack worthwhile buying - very cool.

Go, but I don't think it was worth the $13.50 + popcorn etc.

144476 2003-05-26 03:53:00 Finally saw it, and have to chuck my two cents in .

The obvious parallel is with the Star Wars trilogy . Both were conceived as a larger story but for budgetary reasons, restricted to the first part at the outset . When the first parts of both trilogies hit paydirt, the rest followed . And where Empire flowed into Jedi, Reloaded will likewise flow into Revolutions .

I agree with the comments re: the graphics . Impressive fight scenes, but after seeing Final Flight of the Osiris, I was disappointed to see Neo fighting the Smiths, and easily seeing nothing but smooth textured skin of the CG replacement . That brought me back into reality, just when I was starting to be drawn into the choreography . They managed the awesome detail of the skin textures in Osiris, so why couldn't they do it for Reloaded, with their big budgets?

As for the philosophical discussion, I can't believe so many people watched the Matrix movies and didn't get it - the philosophy is half the movie; the religious and literary references abound, and make it more than just another action flick . I fully intend to watch it several more times to absorb it all . And there is more than just a christian message, there are references to Bhuddism, Hinduism and more . The name Neo, means new, but is also an anagram for One ("The One") and tellingly "Eon" - a long time . . . (put simply) There are so many levels to both Reloaded and the original Matrix, it demands a cult following of its own .

As for the dancing/sex scene in Zion, that seemed to me to be a reference point for the whole distinction between humans and machines - that element of human nature that made the battle worth fighting . It was a little MTV'ish, but it seemed to have African overtones, with the drums and the muddy barefeet .

To those who didn't get it, try seeing it for more than just a good guys/bad guys fight, or a hero gets the girl sort of thing . I can highly recommend looking into the Animatrix (www . theanimatrix . com) and the game, as it opens the movie up to whole new levels . Anyone who didn't get the (oblique) references to the Osiris needs to look at the Animatrix short films .

Can't wait for the next one . Just glad it hasn't been marketed to death by the media . The game and the films seem to have been spared the ignominy that raped the Star Wars trilogy .

144478 2003-05-26 05:39:00 Did you try Google, Stu? The first site that comes up when I typed "matrix" into the search field appears to be the "official website" as far as I can see. Susan B (19)

144480 2003-05-26 05:51:00 Just came across an animated desktop background which displays streaming characters in a style similar to what was used in the movie 'The Matrix'.

Find out about it here (http://zmatrix.sourceforge.net/).
