144465 2003-05-18 11:50:00 I thought it was fantastic :D

Only a few gripes - the sex scene seemed a little out-of-place - I was sitting next to some 8-10yr olds and felt like covering their eyes.

I felt that it seemed very short - probably due to such constant action sequences.

The ending was a bit of a pain - but it had to be expected.

Does anyone else think The Matrix movies have extreme religious undertones?

Seriously, please explain. If there are, I haven't realised, but would like to.

144467 2003-05-18 12:12:00 I'm not a church-goer or anything but the way "the one (Neo)" is approached by all the people in zion for favours and the offerings to him by others (all the baskets outside his place) - just seems a little "Jesusy" to me...

Thoughts?

hehe, you'd be kinda lost if you saw Reloaded without watching the first Matrix.

144469 2003-05-18 12:57:00 This might shed some light on the supposedly Christian things in the matrix, and reloaded.

go here (www.zap2it.com)

I don't really think the matrix is supposed to be Christian at all, it looks more like some cult/occult variation.

And ever wondered what happened to Tank from the first movie?? I did! Cos the other operator aint quite as good! Anyway I found a link to that here (www.zap2it.com)

144470 2003-05-18 19:57:00 I agree with Baldy here. I've seen both of them and thought the first was much better than the second - the first had a reasonable plot, was pretty much straight-foward and was excellent because it had special effects that most people had not seen in a movie.
Whereas the Matrix Reloaded didn't seem to really interest me - I went in with high expectations of it and was extremely disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there were a few excellent scenes in there, but there was nothing new and interesting to it.
Also, as PoWa said, Plot was very weak in my opinion. Often breaks off into philosophical discussion I have to unfortunately agree to all of that

144471 2003-05-18 23:23:00 Yeah, there is a "second coming" streak embedded in the script for Matrix and Keanu Reeves' character does tend to have "new messiah" emblazoned on his forehead. I guess the world needs a hero eh... even the cinematic world... and according to the 'type' of people I associate with, there is an even deeper message... but that's another story...

144473 2003-05-19 11:14:00 Ah. I was so blatantly blind to that. Perhaps because I myself do not believe in all that fictitous nonsense in the so-called "Good News", also known as the gospels. Aside from that, religious figures themselves admit that the rest of the Bible is mythology and stories.

Perhaps the Wachowski brothers caught onto the fact that Christianity has been very popular, and thought of a way to turn that into a futuristic cult movie (Christianity is a cult, too).

Well even I didn't pick it out. I had to be told too :p. Besides agent I don't think any religious person in their right mind would admit what you just said.

Its a cult of what exactly?

A cult can mean something that lots of people are interested in and get into it quite a lot. Just like all the Star Wars/ Star Trek fans. I don't think you used quite the right terminology for Christainity. Christianity aint some popular fashion thing, its a life-long decision you choose to make.

It can also mean some religious sect of Christianity, where some people have taken some part of the bible, thought that it was a specific word from God for them only, and started their own religious cult/occult. Just so you know, Christianity came first and then anything else that spawned off that is referred to as a cult/occult.

You never know, the Wachowskis might be Christian themselves? And are trying to influence everyone with their movies? No-body knows a lot about them, they keep to themselves.

We're getting a little off topic here and without getting into an argument, I hope I cleared that up for you. :)
