144804 2003-05-16 18:08:00 Shouldn't there be something on the compu that we plug into our arms on these occasions? Thomas (1820)

Sorry Thomas that would be illegal, although I am told at these times, Susan has resorted to the bottle and the bar at ChatF1

144807 2003-05-16 23:02:00 It's probably the forum software itself...

If pressf1 wasnt such an established resource I'd suggest moving to a more common/powerful forum software like vbulletin.

I guess its really a strange situation - stick with a forum software that has regular errors but an established database, or go with a new software that has very few if any errors at the expense of losing that database...

Of course a talented enough programmer could write a database convertor so that all the old data can be dumped into the new forum software.. perhaps one even exists already...

144809 2003-05-16 23:41:00 There you go guys, couldn’t have the site down all weekend could we.

Just for reference we know what the problem is and even the solution. It's just a matter to booking it in.

BTW whetu, we did make the change to new forum software and the software itself is stable, that’s why you can see some of the threads. The problem lies in the fact that the biggest open source DB in existence doesn’t support transactions. We’ve got a work around about to be introduced though. Yes you’re right we did need to move the data from one db to another, as you see there’s posts in PF1 from 1998.
