144590 2003-05-19 22:10:00 Well, this has been a success!

Took a little learning, but I did it!

Ive switched XMMS to use the eSound output so it has a seperate volume control from everything else.

Ive set Xine to run at 7:15 because I can use a MRL (Media Resource Locator) to specify which file to use upon loadup. I couldnt do this with XMMS (I dont think?¿?)

I had a wee look around in /etc/cron.daily/ and it was interesting.. but not what I was after :-)

So, I went back to editing the crontab, and as root, I would type:
crontab -u josiah -e

that'd bring up the CronTab

#run at 7:15AM Every Morning in Xine - Wakeup Call
15 7 * * 1-7 xine -A oss -p file://Music/Cold\ -\ Stupid\ Girl.mp3

And it works great! Set the volume to max in Xine, and lower the volume in XMMS!

Thanks a lot :-)

Chill.

For XMMS you would need to use the xmmsctrl command. There is a commandline player called mpg123 which would probably be a better choice though.

But if it ain't broken....

Ive now set it to close after the song has finished, so Im a happy chappy thanks!
