144822 2003-05-16 10:47:00 I have just bought a new PC and want to network with my old one, one has XP Home and the other has 98SE. I wish to share programs, files, printer etc. Is this possible with out installing XP on the old machine? Ferit (3812)
144823 2003-05-16 12:58:00 Yes, you need cross over cable and a network card for each computer. Or you could use USB. BootyLicious (526)
144824 2003-05-16 13:41:00 The forum has a FAQ on networking. Link top right of this page. :-) Susan B (19)
144825 2003-05-16 22:26:00 Yep
It's fairly easy to do
There is a wizard in XP that will assist you with it.
Have you considere buying a network switch or hub and Cat 5 cable to link the 2 systems rather than a direct cable connection?
