144655 2003-05-16 02:01:00 I have a celeron 1.8g that should have a 256 L2 cache
but its telling me that its zero... machine running like its set to zero....

Few months of upgrading to a 2.4 P4 but still

How do i set the L2 Cache...

144656 2003-05-16 02:37:00 reboot and enter your computer's bios, this is usually achieved by pressing the "Delete" key while your computer is starting up.

This will differ depending on what bios you are using, but you should be able to find your way around.
Look for a section labelled "Bios Features" or similar.

The setting you are looking for is "External Cache", make sure this is set to "Enabled". While there you should also check to see if your L1 cache is enabled, this setting is "CPU Internal Cache"

144657 2003-05-16 02:37:00 look in the bios. there is often an optoin to disable the L2 cache. tweak'e (174)
144658 2003-05-16 04:30:00 Just an aside, I think (maybe?) the reason there is usually a bios option to turn off L2 is for running disk speed utilities. Having L2 enabled could give false readings. Terry Porritt (14)
