145343 2003-05-18 03:10:00 Hey guys

I don't know if this is possible, if i installed Windows XP, is that a chance that i don't have to send that activate code in order to allow me to use this windows after the 30 days limit??? (I don't think so right?)

I think you are right about that :)(I maybe wrong) if you want to keep using win XP then you will have to send in that activate code.

Hope this helps :)

145345 2003-05-18 03:59:00 If you want to remain totally anoymous and don't want to send any info you don't think M$ need, then use the telephone option - it's quick and easy and totally automated. Your pc produces a number, you give them that number, they give you another number, you type it in, and XP is yours. Easy!

Just as easy, in fact, sometimes harder, than the online Product Activation, which is, stunningly ;), also completely anonymous.

If you really want to verify that, get a packet capture program and analyse the contents of packets sent and receive during the activation process :D.

145350 2003-05-18 05:22:00 That would be illegal unless you buy a second licence (in other words, another copy of Windows XP).

The only thing you could do remotely like that, without breaking the EULA and laws, is have a copy of the Windows XP CD on another computer for backup purposes.

145352 2003-05-19 11:52:00 Quick an easy I would argue with as I recently tried to do an activation using a cell phone and after four goes gave up as if you timed out you had to start again and if you typed the wrong number same again. After four goes I gave up. You have I think 6 lots of 6 numbers to type in precisely. It would make far more sense to deal with an actual person on the end of the line. mikebartnz (21)
