144998 2003-05-17 04:34:00 The free anti-virus software, AVG, may be converted to a paid product in the near future. :-(

Info found here (www.hazeleger.net) .

144999 2003-05-17 04:44:00 Looks like there will still be a free version though. I am guessing a stripped down (by that I mean no auto-updates or whatever) version.

I use Nortons, but I found AVG excellent - so here's hoping free will stay free

145000 2003-05-17 05:06:00 Well looks like there's another great free product gone :( -=JM=- (16)
145001 2003-05-17 05:33:00 Notice that there is still a freebee out there called avast.
It has better results than AVG in the anti-virus tests. I have downloaded it and will try it out on my other PC and make sure it is "user friendly" as well as effective.

145004 2003-05-17 05:51:00 Whilst we are talking about AVG etc. there is this new virus W32/Fizzer@mm that people should read up about at the main AV sites. There is a removal tool at Symantec and probably other places. IDG Virus & Security Watch reported on it yesterday. Terry Porritt (14)

145006 2003-05-17 06:25:00 Did anyone read the link???? AVG says they might still have a free version. Its not all doom and gloom yet. Baldy (26)
145007 2003-05-17 06:32:00 I'm downloading avast now. Will try it out on win98 because I had to remove AVG.

AVG + ati drivers = bad stuff.
