We can be competitive almost everywhere outside of asia but asia is where the money is. There is a decent market in NZ but when it comes to trying new things the building industry (which we supply) is very resistant to change. When we used to do business in Italy during the 70s, it surprised me at the amount of back handers and "commission" that changed hands in order to get business. Then there was the scandal of the Italian 'Bogap' car gas cylinders in this country in the 80s. These cylinders manifestly failed the specifications, but were allowed to be used, most probably involving back handers......until one exploded. Then the shite hit the fan :rolleyes: |

( had to look it up to even see what it was) First thoughts were how the hell do you train seagulls to race ?? or is it the first to the local dump to get food wins :D |

Sure, when corruption is legalised. :D :D If you were to go to the city council and ask for a set of guide lines for setting up a restaurant/eating house, for example, you'll find that we have a damn good set or rules and regulations. But, just walk in to the kitchen (if you have the opportunity) of any restaurant especially those Chinese restaurants, you will understand what I mean. Of course, not all Chinese restaurants are the same - there are exceptions! |
