1312077 2012-11-12 00:44:00 I've got a few days off between uni and starting work so I decided I'd finally do this . I've got a Toshiba P750 laptop and I've done a bit of research on this . The process looks fairly simple, take out the HDD and chuck in the SSD . Boot up and install windows 7 onto the SSD . Then swap the optical drive for a 12 . 7mm caddy and put the old HDD in that . Seems easy enough and shouldn't take long at all!

But I was looking for some advice on where/what SSD and caddy to buy, I'm currently looking for around a 120GB SSD drive but I'm not really sure on brands etc? I was looking at getting this ( . pbtech . co . nz/index . php?z=p&p=HDDOCZ3122&name=OCZ-Agility2-120G-Solid-State-Drive-" target="_blank">www . pbtech . co . nz(SSD)-2 . 5-High)from pbtech as it seemed quite cheap . Alongside the SSD, the only caddy I could find was this ( . trademe . co . nz/Browse/Listing . aspx?id=531823729" target="_blank">www . trademe . co . nz)for $30 and the Titans one for $59 at pbtech .

Any recommendations or advice?

Thanks

1312079 2012-11-12 00:59:00 I've done this exact thing in my Asus laptop.
I'm just using an Adata 128GB SSD but only because I had a credit with my supplier :)
I usually stick with Intel 520 series SSDs.

I got my caddy off ebay for about US$10.

1312081 2012-11-12 01:25:00 I recommend the samsung 830 series SSD personally. A clean install like you suggest is the best option, but you could also install both hard drives using the caddy and clone the OS over as an option. dugimodo (138)

This one seems OK so far but only had it a few months.
Ask me again in a year or two. :D

How long did it take to arrive? Might look into it.

I think I'll go for either Intel 330 120GB or Samsung 830 128GB. Both fit my price range and seem to rate highly from reviewers on different sites. What are the main differences between the two apart from read/write speed?

Took about a week to arrive so may be too long for you to wait. :D
