1312058 2012-11-12 00:02:00 After ten or more years as a customer of Telstra Clear I finally gave up at their lack of interest in improving their network so that it even remotely worked as specified.

I've gone from cable to adsl, and the speed increase has been noticeable, even though in theory it is slower. I can finally watch You Tube videos without stutter.

Thanks Telstra Clear - you won't be getting my vote for ISP of the year.

Had to laugh - next day my new ISP Slingshot got rated worst ISP, but they have been really good so far so hope it continues.

That's their non-customer service - not line speed or haste in signing you up.

1312060 2012-11-12 01:45:00 I am with Slingshot and get from 0.4 to 5, so not happy with that, I am at the end of the line, but hopefully not forever. Cicero (40)

Youtube have a local cdn I think.....but Telstraclear not peering means you end up going oz or us and back again to get to it. Its common complaint.

Not moving on datacaps is the primary reason people leave.

1312062 2012-11-12 04:48:00 We ditched Telstra too, while there was nothing wrong with them they werent getting any better and for the money we were spending it seemed stupid to stay with them. With vodafone now and even though it's theoritically slower it is actually faster, with the exception of torrents/big downloads. But double the data for half the price cant go wrong. hueybot3000 (3646)
1312063 2012-11-12 05:48:00 One has to wonder how these genius's on their million salaries think, all I do is look at the different web site and find that one is twice the price of the other, what method do they use to keep up? Cicero (40)
1312064 2012-11-12 09:25:00 I haven't met anyone with anything good to say about TelstraClear for almost a year. Most of their customers seem to only be sticking with them because switching is too much hassle.
I hope they don't drag Vodafone down to their level.

1312065 2012-11-12 10:26:00 We were with Telstraclear since the day's of their free dial up service Zfree. Then sometime either last year or 2010 we got rid of them, and switched to Kinect by Trustpower. To be honest, I have nothing to complain about and have nothing but positive things to say about Kinect, we have no data cap and are 'unlimited' and it's great. goodiesguy (15316)
1312066 2012-11-13 01:18:00 when Zfree was around - it was CLEAR Communications Limited - Not Telstraclear.

Telstraclear (Australia) bought CLEAR Communications in 2002.

So New Zealand Clear then became known as TelstraClear

May have been a bit hard for you to follow at the time, considering you were 6 years old!

btw - Trustpower in Mosgiel is probably the most expensive power supply company you could have...

1312067 2012-11-13 06:11:00 We seriously looked into trust power kinect when we were still in Nelson due to the fact they were the first to allow unused BB to roll over at the end of the month. Unfortunately their power prices were so much higher then the opposition it was still going to cost us a hell of a lot more to go with them. We would never have made the savings on BB to off set the cost of electricity from them gary67 (56)
